This month the Charter Revision Commission will narrow down the number of
proposed changes to the City Charter. There have been twelve recommended
changes, and each member has been asked to narrow down their preferences to
four or five. In January the commission is expected to vote on changes to go
before the voters and then work on a presentation in support of them.
The Fireworks Committee is also well on its way to firming up the Fourth of July
celebration which will be held on July 5th. The committee is working on a
fundraising plan to ensure the greatest number of fireworks and the best
celebration possible without using taxpayer dollars.
The Ordinance subcommittee of the City Council is considering ordinances to
strengthen anti- blight rules, prevent shopping carts from littering our streets and
allow alcohol to be sold at Fuessenich Park. The City Council would hold a public
hearing on these proposed changes.
I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
