On Saturday April 21 over 80 volunteers participated in a city-wide cleanup to celebrate Earth Day, removing garbage from nearly a dozen spots around Torrington. Kim Barberi (Zoning and Wetlands Enforcement Officer), along with the Conservation Commission, organized the clean-up day which had volunteers cleaning up Coe Memorial Park, Center Cemetery, and many other public sites around town. A group of students from East School, a Boy Scout troop, a leadership group from the Torrington YMCA, as well as several families participated in the event. After the 3 hour cleanup, the volunteers were treated to lunch at Coe Park, provided by Scarpelli's Restuarant. The Torrington Conservation Commission meets on the second Thursday of each month at 630pm at City Hall, Room 324.
