There's a Democratic Primary in Torrington on August 11!

Torrington Democrats have two races on the ballot this year: governor, and, for some voters, U.S. Representative.

Governor: Every Torrington Democrat Can Vote

All registered Democrats in Torrington can vote in the governor's primary. The choice is between:

Congressional District 1: Districts 1, 2, 3, and 4

Torrington is split between two congressional districts. Voters in Torrington's voting districts 1, 2, 3, and 4 are in Connecticut's 1st Congressional District and will also see a Representative primary on their ballot. The choices are:

Early Voting: August 3-9

Early voting takes place at Torrington City Hall, 140 Main St. Hours vary by day:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday (Aug 3, 5, 7, 8, 9): 10 am - 6 pm

  • Tuesday and Thursday (Aug 4, 6): 8 am - 8 pm

Primary Day: August 11

Polls are open 6 am to 8 pm at each district's regular polling place. District 6 voters - there is a change in polling location. Voting is NOW at the Vogel Wetmore School (not at the Armory).

Not a Democrat yet? Unaffiliated Voters Can Still Participate

Connecticut's primary is closed, but unaffiliated voters can enroll in a party before the deadline and still vote:

  • To vote early: enroll by noon on July 31, the business day before early voting begins

  • To vote on primary day: enroll by noon on Monday, August 10

Enrollment can be done online at MyVote.CT.gov, by mail, or in person at the Registrar of Voters office on the 2nd floor of Torrington City Hall.
