Position: Board of Education
Name: Kristen Conway
Education:
BA degree from University of Connecticut in Business
AA degree from Culinary Institute of America
Torrington High School 1998
Occupation:
I currently work for the State of Connecticut, Department of Consumer Protection, Food and Standards Division as the Rapid Response Team Coordinator.
Community involvement:
I have been actively involved in Torrington schools for 8 years. I served 2 years as Forbes PTO President, 2 years as Forbes PTO Vice-President, 2 years as Torringford PTO Secretary and volunteered many hours prior to holding positions. I also volunteered for the Portrait of a Graduate Committee, the Committee for Redistricting of Schools, interview panel for TMS Principal as well as 5th Grade Committee Chair. I have also volunteered outside of the schools as a cheer coach, team mom for cheer and soccer as well as a Girl Scout leader for 4 years. Besides my volunteer work, I am a graduate of Torrington Public Schools, class of 1998. I believe in Torrington Schools, and we have chosen to raise our kids in Torrington.
Our children attend Torrington Middle School. As a parent of current Torrington students, I am much more vested in results and actions. As my time on PTO comes to an end, I want to continue to give back to the children of Torrington and continue to fight for what’s best for them.
Why I serve:
The children and teachers in Torrington deserve our support.
